About Importantia Publishing

When I founded the Importantia engineering firm in 1992, I had no idea that it would become a theological publishing house. During its first years, Importantia concentrated on the digitalisation of texts, including Bibles. Most of these texts found their way onto the Online Bible software library. Gradually, Importantia developed its own digital databases, offering a helpful tool for Bible study and biblical research. An example of this database development are Strong-encoded Bibles in several European languages, as well as their associated lexicons. Importantia was one of the first digital text publishers. Long before the eBook became popular, Importantia had established a solid relationship within the world of electronic book publishing.

In 2000, it was decided to convert these databases into printed publications. Looking at the various technological possibilities, Importantia opted for a new technology: print-on-demand. A book could be individually printed, instead of published in large numbers. Gradually, this technology became more sophisticated, and could be better incorporated into the book trade. Importantia Publishing was born. In 2003, its first eBooks were issued.

It is now 2016, and Importantia Publishing has evolved into a specialised theological publishing house with a particular preference for biblical studies. Content, as it is currently called, is still developed for the Online Bible. Digitalisation still has an important place. Print-on-demand continues to be popular. And many volumes are still being published as eBooks. This website focuses on physical books. When a book is also available on the Online Bible, or as an eBook, this is mentioned, but for the purchase of these electronic publications you will be redirected to Importantia’s partners. In contrast, physical books are available directly from Importantia Publishing. Because all books are produced via print-on-demand, most orders will be shipped directly to you upon production. Importantia Publishing makes use of sophisticated printing techniques, so that when you order, your book will be printed, bound and shipped within just a few short days. It is precisely because we do not have to store stock, and can deliver these print-on-demand books quickly, that we are constantly able to expand our range of specialised theological titles.

To keep abreast of the new titles appearing on our site, you can subscribe to the newsletter.

Help us make free bible content available worldwide.

At Importantia Publishing we also develop and distribute Bible-related content for missionary purposes. On the whole, this consists of free content for Online Bible applications, as well as Bible-related eBooks. We offer all content in a range of languages. Limited populations within some language areas mean it is impossible to recoup these development costs from sales. However, it is at the same time extremely important that these groups are offered full access to quality biblical literature. We raise the necessary costs for making such content available via crowdfunding.

Below, you will find a list of ongoing projects leading to new titles becoming available. Each project requires a minimum outlay sum before work can commence. Should we receive more funds than necessary for a particular project all surplus donations will be diverted to another project.

You can donate sums of €5, € 10, €15 or more to a project. Place your donation into the shopping cart and select your total donation amount by adjusting the number of units. Should you prefer to support us in U.S dollars, this may be done via PayPal (please mention the project you wish to support within the ‘comments’ field).

Importantia Scan & Print makes older titles newly available.

Importantia Scan & Print titles consist of physical books which we can scan and print in the required numbers. The titles available via this method come from Importantia’s library and are often only available for sale via the second hand market.

How does it work?
Scanned books are not suitable for production. Firstly, the scan needs to be tidied up and every page must be correctly repositioned. We then add a soft binding and cover (paperback). In principle, every scanned book can be reproduced as a physical volume. However, author’s rights mean this is not always possible. We have either arranged for rights to the books offered on this site, or the books are of an age where third party rights have since expired.

Delivery time
If one of our titles has been previously scanned and printed, delivery times will be shorter. Should your order involve a title which has not yet been printed, delivery times will be longer as the scans will need to be prepared for printing. Quality
All books receive a basic clean up, which means that some pages may contain marks and notes from a previous owner. It is possible to remove many of these, but at an extra charge. This is not always necessary, as some original books are of relatively good print quality.ISBN
When a book has an ISBN, there has been more demand for it and it will be available for wider distribution through bookstores. Larger quantities and special requests
Should you require more than 10 printed copies of one particular book, please ask us for a special price. If you are looking for a title not listed on this site, feel free to contact us; it is possible that this title is a part of our library and therefore available. You may also contact us as regards special requests.

Friedrich Wilhelm Krummacher (1796-1868) was a German Reformed pastor.

His father (Friedrich Adolf K.) and his uncle (Gottfried Daniel K.) were both noted theologians.
Friedrich Wilhelm Krummacher studied theology at Halle and Jena, and became pastor successively at Frankfurt am Main (1819), Ruhrort (1823), Gemarke, near Barmen (1825) and Elberfeld (1834).
In 1843 he came to New York. He declined a theological professorship in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, and afterward returned to Berlin.
Although a minister of the Reformed Church, he was a zealous advocate of the older Lutheranism, and gave great offence by his denunciation of rationalists. He wrote many works, many of which have been translated into English, Dutch and French.
